Inspiration.

Now that my kids have their Wii set up in their bedroom, I can actually turn the TV on something other than cartoons.  It's amazing.  I can watch the news!

Anyway, I was letting the baby watch PBS for a little bit "Bob the Builder" - or something similar was on - I wasn't paying attention like he was - and I started some rocks for a "Make your own Pet  Rock Monster" crafting idea for Summerfest in South Charleston in August (3rd-5th).

Apparently, the show that he was watching had gone off and some 80 year old man was talking about agriculture.  I was clearly not very interested in this topic, but my hands very covered in paint so I just left it on when the baby went to play with his brothers (he was just as uninterested as I was apparently).

But, for some reason I stopped painting and looked up at the screen for a moment.  This is what I heard (something similar anyway):

Do something that you LOVE to do.  Do something that you would and do, do for FREE.  That way, once you get really good at it, you will make money and lots of it and be HAPPY.

All I can say about that is WOW!

I think that is an amazing way to look at things.  This applies to charity work, painting, baking, cooking, writing, traveling, whatever you love to do!  I hope that one day I can eventually pay some of my lovely ladies in the group because they do work so hard for such great causes.

I just wanted to share this  because I think that it is really inspiring and I hope that everyone takes it to heart.  Do what you love and what makes you happy.  Happiness, love, and compassion is really what makes the world go round - not always money.

Updates

Well, our yard sale for tomorrow got changed from a personal yard sale at my granny's to the big v100 yard sale at Laidley Field in Charleston.  However, today due to weather, they cancelled that and rescheduled for NEXT Saturday, July 21st.

HOPEFULLY, we won't get rained out that day too! :(

Anyway....

We have added a new project or two to the list.

We have added Summerfest in South Charleston to our list of events.    We will have a booth there full of info, a table set up to get money for Dallas Ridings, and some fun activities like a duck pond game, coloring, and crafting.

We added a walk for Messages for Hope to our calendar.  It's a Suicide Prevention Walk held on Magic Island in Charleston.  ANYONE is welcome to join our team.  There have been a lot of people I went to high school that were affected by classmates and friends who committed suicide and I think it would be really great to honor them at this event.

We are also trying to get a school supply drive going for children in need.  More info will be provided as it becomes available! :)

And we have received our application for the Mound Festival!  Really excited about that one!!

In other news....

We have officially paid for and filed for all of our WV Business Licenses as well as filed for tax exempt status.  It broke my bank account, but really needed done. :)

Website is also officially in the works....

Things are progressing!!

Can't wait to meet all of you and see you at one of our events!!

7/7 Event & More

I want to thank the girls that came out on Saturday in the sweltering heat!

I have some great girls on board and I only hope to get more just as great!

The event on Saturday was not as successful as past events because the heat was simply UNBEARABLE.  However we did make a little bit of money!

We gained a few new members this week and even though one is out of state, she (and the others) will be GREAT addition(s) to the group!

We are now having a meet and greet event at Panera Bread in the Charleston Town Center Mall on Saturday July 28th *IN THE VIP ROOM*.   We will be having a Thirty-One open house as well, and 10% of all purchases will be donated to the Moms On a Mission group for one of the 3 walks we are participating in in the next few months.

We are also having a yard sale THIS Saturday (the 14th) in Charleston to raise money for the Autism Walk on August 4th.

I will be creating a separate post within the next day or so to showcase items for the Autism Walk that we will be selling. :)  You will be able to purchase these items online and at the yard sale event also.

We will have yard sale items, goodies, refreshments, crafts, and will be taking custom orders also.

Be sure to come out and support us, join one of our walk teams, sponsor a walker, or donate to the Dallas Ridings cause.  Or just come and say "Hi!"  There will be something for everyone!

4th of July Event!

The 4th of July event in Buffalo, WV was very successful!

We made a good bit of money on craft items that will be given to the group for needs.

We also made enough money to buy Dallas some more things from his "wishlist."  The really AMAZING part of the Donations that we received for Dallas is.... the majority of them came from children!  That is refreshing and overall just great!  Reminds me that in this crazy little world of ours, there is definitely still hope left.  Children our so sweet and loving and they need to be cherished!

We made some new decisions at our "Board Meeting" tonight, and are working on great things for the group.  We are really hoping to take this group to the top!  We have lots of hopes, goals, and dreams that are slowly, but steadily coming true!

We want to take this time to thank all of our supporters!!

We love you guys!!

Also, be sure to come check us out on Saturday in Chesapeake, during the city festival!

Mention the blog for a FREE gift! ;)

Busy bees!

So, I have totally slacked off on this whole blog thing, but I am working on lots of things and just haven't had room in my brain to remember to do it!

The Facebook page is pretty close to up to date though.  I can hop on that from my phone pretty easily, so it stays updated more so.

Now that I am about to get a new vehicle, things will be much more settled and structured for me. :)

So here is what has been going on at Moms On a Mission.

We have 30 members currently.

We we EXTREMELY successful (in my eyes) at the Poca Town Yardsale.  We made $237. That was enough to get the girls participating in the Autism Walk their registration fees, PLUS put $100 back towards all of fees to go ahead and become incorporated.  Awesome news!  I don't want anyone to feel like they HAVE to question us.  And I definitely don't want anyone to have any room to push our buttons! :)

I talked to an old friend, who I will be seeing more soon because he is coming back to WV for a while, who dabbles in marketing and I hope to have him on board with us soon!  He sounds like he can get us some good publicity and really give us that push that we need.

Also, we had a little bit of "play money" left over so we decided to order camo rubber bracelets (like the LiveStrong ones) that read "Dallas is MY HERO!!" for Mr. Dallas Ridings.  Dallas is a five year old hero that saved his little brother from getting badly burned by hot grease and in turn, was covered in 2nd and 3rd degree burns himself.  His ENTIRE face was burned.  We decided to sell these bracelets for $5 a piece and use the money that we get from them to buy Dallas the special UV Protective clothing that he needs for daily functioning.  So far we were able to get him SEVERAL pieces of clothing.  And hope to be able to get him more!

We also had business cards, fridge magnets, and a banner made so everyone will know who we are at events!  I think they all turned out GREAT!

We extended our food drive to July 14th.  I can't really get out and do much without a car, so we extended it. :)

We had our event at Bob Evan's Restaurant for Dallas Ridings (the little boy mentioned above) and we all had a pretty good time.  We got to meet Dallas and I got to see some old co-workers!  Teri Blevins from Lil' Bit of Heaven Cupcakes donated a GIANT Camo cupcake for Dallas.  HE LOVED IT!  Let me tell you, he little face lit UP when he saw it!  And he even laughed when his mom caught him sneaking a bite before dinner! It was great!  We got him some army men, and Lori King made him a Super Hero Cape and Mask.  The cape even had pockets on the inside for him to hide things!  And the kiddos drew him pictures.  It was totally sweet!  Children really are amazing sometimes.

Also to support Mr. Dallas I am selling handmade magnets through my Etsy store for $5.50.  With each magnet purchase, you get a rubber "MY HERO" bracelet.  And we will have theses out at events, of course.

A big THANK YOU to Laura Forster-Knight also!  She gave up her Mary Kay profits for a day and blew Facebook up about support Dallas!  In the day that she was giving up for donation she received a fair amount of orders and is donating all proceeds to Dallas!  How awesome is she?  And here's the kicker...she is even in TENNESSEE!!!

We have also picked up a few fairs and such to try to get more money for the group.

JULY 4th - Town of Buffalo Celebration - goodies, drinks, crafts and more!

JULY 7th - (Previously posted) City Festival in Chesapeake - crafts and lots of fun!

JULY 14th - YARD SALE in Charleston - 703 Grant Street 8AM to 2PM - yard sale items, crafts, goodies, refreshments, and more!

OH!  And I almost forgot!  We are the official Welcoming committee for the National Kidney Foundation's Walk here is Charleston!! Woo hoo!!

And we will almost be helping out with the Conquer Chiari Walk.

I'm sure that I have forgotten a lot, but my old brain doesn't function quite as well anymore. lol

I will keep everyone updated!!!

Getting the Ball Rolling

So, only a few days later and there is SO MUCH going on and to talk about with Moms On a Mission.

Paperwork

1) I have mailed off registration papers for the state of WV as being a non-profit group.  This is not required UNTIL you raise over $25,000, however,  I paid the fee and sent it in anyway.  I like to be prepared for anything that may come my way! :)

2) I have gained an EIN *Employee Identification Number* from the IRS.  The site says they only do 5 a day.  I guess my getting up at 6 AM to do this paid off for the group!
3) I filed with the BBB Better Business Bureau to make sure everything is legit.  I had to file as "waiting on tax exempt status" those as this is a longer process.

4) Also, hopefully this week our Articles of Incorporation will be fully completed as well as our 501c Tax Exempt paperwork. :)

Members

We already have OVER 20 members and more that are interested!  We have assigned positions and are holding our first meeting and Meet & Great this coming Wednesday! :)

All of our ladies are TOP NOTCH and I couldn't be happier!

Events

We have our "Meet, Greet, and Eat" this week on Wednesday.  We are discussing our short and long term goals, bylaws, and events that are in the works that evening.  If you would like to come, feel free to email us at: MomsOnAMissionWV@gmail.com

We have officially signed up to participate in the National Kidney Foundations "Kidney Walk" in October (October 13th).  You can sign up to join our team here: http://donate.kidney.org/site/TR/Walk/General?px=1969599&pg=personal&fr_id=5131

We are providing an informational booth on July 7th in a festival for the city of Chesapeake, WV.

We are also working on helping out a group called Dog Bless Advocacy.  This group helps with out of state rescue missions of dogs from the Kanawha County Humane Association.  Their Website is located here:  https://www.facebook.com/dogblessadvocacy

We are currently working to set up other events as well.  If you have ANY suggestions, please email them to MomsOnAMissionWV@gmail.com.

Merchandise

We made lots of products yesterday.  All the money made from selling these products will go towards the fundraisers and causes that we are participating in.  Everything  we have made is paid for by the members, not money that is collected through fundraising.  We hope to be adding more products soon!

We  hope that we keep progressing as well as we have been and can continue to grow together as a group.  If you havent yet, please go "Like" our facebook page located here: https://www.facebook.com/MomsOnAMissionWV

Thanks for your continued support!!
